Millennials Cry Out for Intimacy

Doors to Darkness

On December 1st, the Lord gave me a dream pertaining to the millennial generation. I was in a densely packed convention centre among throngs of millennials, pressed shoulder to shoulder, idly waiting. As I questioned what they were waiting for, my eyes were directed to many doors lining the walls of this multi-floored complex. They were all shut, and what remained inside was hidden.

It was made known to me that within each of these rooms, perverse and unspeakable things were occurring, and the congregants of young adults were waiting their turn to enter the rooms and partake in these sexual evils.

Injured Without Intimacy

My stomach turned, and as I looked upon the masses, my spirit leaped—the Harvest is ripe! I saw sheep without a shepherd, and I determined to share Jesus with them. As I offered an open invitation to join in laboring, a young man volunteered, but his shoulder was dislocated. Unable to raise his arm, he was very weak, and this confined him to a wheelchair.

This man who believed in Jesus was marked by sin. While he confessed Jesus with his lips, he did not know Him (1 John 2:4-6). He lacked intimacy with the Lord, unable to raise his arms in adoration, and consequentially unable to walk in power. A ripe harvest in front of him, his ability to effectively labour was squashed by his failure to live holy, wholly unto Jesus.

“He lacked intimacy with the Lord, unable to raise his arms in adoration, and consequentially unable to walk in power.”

He determined to run the race well, and with assistance, he was made whole. His weakness, brought on by a divided heart, was removed. He walked out of the wheelchair in strength.

Holiness Precedes Power

At once, the organizer of the convention marched towards us, furious with this fellow. While this young man was of no distinction from the perverse crowds that earlier surrounded him, he had forsaken intimacy with the world and at last pursued his bridegroom: Jesus. Suddenly, the very presence of this laid-down lover jeopardized everything the evil organizer had built.

Beloved, we are called to redeem the time for the days are evil (Eph. 5:16), forsaking the world and the things in the world, for if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15). For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2 Cor. 6:14).

1 John 3:8 tells us, “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” Let us fix our eyes on Jesus alone, that we too would destroy the works of the devil in this lost generation that cries out for true intimacy. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Mat. 9:37).

Christians: There is one Door that leads to Life, and His name is Jesus. This is eternal life: that we may know Him (John 17:3). Know Him.
